Philosophy

Finger Lakes Center for Living (FLCL) is an 80 bed skilled nursing facility attached to Auburn Memorial Hospital and located in a residential section of Auburn. FLCL develops individual programs of care for each resident. So whether the resident’s need is short term rehabilitation therapy, a restorative nursing program or a long term care setting, our team of experienced professionals can meet your needs.

Admitting

Inquiries regarding Admission are handled through the Social Work Department at FLCL. Contact should be made with the facility to request an application for admission, as well as to arrange a tour if desired.

The first criteria for admission is to ensure that the potential resident requires skilled nursing level of care. For potential residents at home or at a lesser level of care in the community, this is determined by the Patient Review Instrument, or PRI. This is completed by an RN in whatever setting the potential resident resides in. The Social Work department can assist in obtaining this form.

Time frame for admission varies and is dependent on several factors. The foremost factor is bed availability. This varies and is difficult to predict. Once a bed becomes available, first consideration is given to hospitalized patients that might require a short term rehabilitative stay. Second consideration is given to those at home, or at a lesser level of care (such as an adult home) who now require increased care.

FLCL accepts Medicare and Medicaid, as well as most private insurances. The Social Work Department is available to assist in determining if a particular insurance would cover a stay.

Services

Our residents are provided quality nursing services; physical, occupational and speech therapy; as well as nutritional and social work services. In addition dental and podiatry services are provided on-site and the full resources of Auburn Memorial Hospital are just steps away. Residents see the doctor on a regular monthly basis and more often if necessary. We participate in Medicare and Medicaid and accept most insurance programs.

The facility was built in 1995 with comfortable bright resident rooms with large bathrooms, lounges, dining rooms and an outdoor courtyard.

All resident rooms are equipped for private telephones and cable televisions. Residents can bring items that will make them comfortable i.e. bedspread, paintings etc. If it is a large item such as a chair we would want advance notice to determine if the space can accommodate it. Cell phones are also allowed, and we have a cordless phone available with local service for no charge.

Residents may select their own meals from a menu that meets their nutritional needs that are served in the comfort of a dining room decorated in traditional décor.

Recreational programs are regularly scheduled and reflect the choices and preferences of the resident population. Indoor and outdoor activities are part of the daily life at FLCL and include gardening, cards, cooking and arts and crafts of all kind. Interfaith worship services are offered weekly.
