Located in the heart of the Finger lakes Region, Auburn Community Hospital is a rural 99-bed hospital serving a population of 80,000. Our growing Radiology department is in need of a Medical Imaging Assistant!

Broad Function:
Individuals appointed to position are capable of performing the function of a unit secretary, nursing assistant & Patient Representative and are; therefore, responsible for clerical, patient care and patient representative duties within the Imaging department. For any assigned shift, an Assistant may carry out the responsibilities of one or more of the job responsibilities.
Major Responsibilities:
Patient Representative Responsibilities:
- Patient Representative duties include placement and modification of imaging orders. Calling stat or wfr reports.
- Maintain current, accurate, orderly patient charts including, but not limited to laboratory reports, history and physical reports & maintain other records, files, statistics, logs, and bulletin board as necessary.
- Answer and screen telephone calls; relay messages to appropriate personnel; contact various people as requested. Follow-up as necessary. Handle patient schedules either by scheduling or rescheduling patient as directed.
- Demonstrates strong communication skills (i.e., appropriate use of tone of voice, diction, grammar, terminology).
- Demonstrates the ability to follow directions.
- Maintains daily activity sheet and logs
- Assists Registered technologists in completing forms as directed (i.e. screening forms, Contrast forms, procedure forms).
- Add notes and documentation to Radiology Pac’s systems as directed.
- Places charges into the computer system.
- Performs filing duties.
- Receives, assists and guides other staff, physicians and families appropriately. Demonstrates a willingness to assist others.
- Schedules various tests and procedures, with appropriate departments.
- Communicates with physicians/Staff concerning patients.
- Monitor intercom and paging system and answer patient request for service; refer to appropriate staff member.
- Distributes mail.
- Responds appropriately and efficiently to various emergencies according to established procedures.
- Order stock to maintain adequate supplies as necessary; distribute stock.
- Perform preceptor duties as needed.
- Maintain an acceptable skill level with regard to computer use.
- Perform duties with minimal supervision.
- Provide patient Transport when directed.
- Adheres to strict MRI safety procedures
- Maintain a clean and orderly area.
- Completes duties in a timely manner.
- Accepts responsibility for own actions and accepts constructive criticism.
- Reports unsafe conditions to proper staff and other departments.
Patient Care Assistant Responsibilities:
- Comply with established nursing assistant standards. Maintain established department, unit, and hospital policies. Maintain a clean, orderly, and safe environment for patients.
- Prepare patients for Imaging procedures and minor procedures if appropriate. Transport patients to Imaging department or other units as necessary.
- Assist physicians and nursing personnel during treatment of emergency patients, examination and treatment of outpatients.
- Contact physician(s) as directed by staff or MD with messages or pertinent information
- Answer department call alarms.
- Perform CPR (as certified) as directed by Staff or MD.
- Clean and disinfect counters, tables, and equipment and work areas as often as required.
- Provide for comfort of patients including, but not limited to: changing patient’s position, incontinence care, routine catheter care, skin care; ensure the use of clean clothing, straighten clothing and rooms and make beds/Scanner table.
- Provide physical support in assisting patient in and out of bed as needed; may transport patients to and from assigned areas/units as assigned.
- Adheres to isolation precautions according to policy.

- May assist in providing control and support for agitated patients.
- Clean and maintain various machines in functional readiness; report malfunctions immediately.
- Complete computer training to assist with task such as charging for supplies, placing orders and acknowledging patient exam on completion.
- Maintains appropriate stock in scanner room and supply area.
- Attend and complete required education programs (health streams, department specific mandatory programs and position/performance related topics).
- Follows and maintains attendance according to policy.
- Adheres to dress code & always wears ID badge.

- Customer service approach to patient care.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications:
- Patient Care Assistant experience
- CPR Certification
- Demonstrated computer skills
- Previous Imaging experience
Physical Demands:
- Heavy work: pushing, pulling, walking, standing and lifting.
- Must be able to lift 50 lbs.
- Ability to transport patients from charts, beds and wheelchairs.
- Ability to stand and walk for long periods of time.
- Ability to lift and position patients.
- Ability to transport mobile imaging equipment.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $18.24 – $20.93 per hour
Expected hours: 37.5 per week
