Auburn Community Hospital, (ACH) is recognized for expertise in Maternity Care and Bariatric Surgery.
Auburn Community Hospital is pleased to announce that it has received a Blue Distinction® Center+ designation in the area of Maternity Care and Bariatric Surgery. The Blue Distinction Centers+ recognition is awarded by Blue Cross and Blue Shield and signifies that the hospital’s Bariatric Surgery and Maternity Programs met nationally established criteria. The criteria demonstrate expertise in delivering quality specialty care safely and effectively while also demonstrating cost efficiency in the delivery of specialty care.
The Blue Distinction Centers+ for Maternity Care program evaluates hospitals on quality measures for vaginal and cesarean delivery.
In 2017 Auburn Community Hospital’s Maternity department delivered over 400 babies. “We strive to provide compassionate and comprehensive women’s health care by delivering specialized programs with individualized care. Members of our team include physicians with specialties in obstetrics and gynecology, as well as Certified Nurse Midwives. The team is supported by nurses with specialized training and all other hospital resources to provide a comprehensive level of care for any patient need,” said Scott Berlucchi, President & CEO, Auburn Community Hospital.
To receive a Blue Distinction Center+ for Bariatric Surgery designation, a health care facility must demonstrate success in meeting patient safety measures as well as bariatric-specific quality measures including complication and readmission rates for laparoscopic sleeve, gastrectomy and gastric bypass. It should be noted that a health care facility must be nationally accredited at both the facility and bariatric program-specific levels.
“We are equally pleased to be recognized for our work in Bariatrics. Now more people will know what we have been saying for years, Fingerlakes Bariatrics is the best destination for all surgical weight loss options in Central New York. You can rest assured that you will be treated with compassion, quality care, and support by Dr. Weiss and Dr. Okolica and their surgical team,” stated Berlucchi.
