Biography
Dr. Weiss specializes in general surgical procedures with extensive experience in bariatric surgery and advanced training in minimally invasive surgery. A former assistant professor of surgery at Upstate Medical University, Dr. Weiss is currently on surgical staff and serves as director of Fingerlakes Bariatrics at Auburn Community Hospital and has privileges at Upstate University Hospital. He previously served as head of the surgical department and on the Board of Trustees at Auburn Community Hospital. Dr. Weiss believes in patient centered care with a multidisciplinary approach. Having performed thousands of bariatric and general surgeries, he appreciates the life-changing effect surgical procedures can have on patients themselves and their families. Communication is always a priority in his patient care. Dr. Weiss believes that if the patient and his/her family have a good understanding of the surgical plan and are comfortable with it, the likelihood for a good outcome is very high.
