The Activities Therapist is responsible for providing high quality patient care, displaying good skills in assessment, treatment planning, group treatment, individual treatment, family treatment, and patient centered programming. Additionally, they are expected to function well as a member of the multidisciplinary team and participate in the unit community relations program.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field such as recreational therapy or psychology; Master’s in Social Work or other related field.
- LMSW, LCSW, Certified Therapeutic Recreation Specialist (CTRS) preferred.
- Proven experience in behavioral therapy and patient assessment; inpatient psychiatric setting preferred.
- Strong knowledge of HIPAA regulations, and medical documentation
- Skills in group therapy and recreational therapy techniques
- Experience working with a multidisciplinary team
- Familiarity with premium skills such as music therapy, art therapy, and physical education a plus.
Responsibilities
- Design and implement individualized therapy programs for patients, based on thorough activities assessment
- Conducts individual therapy sessions, displaying good theoretical knowledge of mental illness and good treatment technique.
- Develop and maintain a safe and therapeutic environment
- Provides group therapy sessions, displaying good theoretical knowledge of group therapy principles and good group therapy technique.
- Conducts educational group sessions, displaying good theoretical knowledge of subject matter and effective communication skills in presenting material.
- Assess patients’ physical, mental and emotional abilities and needs
- Completes therapeutic recreation evaluations on assigned patients in a timely fashion. Displays good interviewing, diagnostic and report writing skills.
- Completes progress notes and discharge plans in a timely and high-quality fashion.

Pay: $20.00 – $27.00 per hour
Expected hours: 37.5 per week; Monday – Friday 8am-4pm
