Clinical Pharmacist

Nestled in the beautiful Finger Lakes region of New York State between Syracuse and Rochester lies Auburn Community Hospital – a 99-bed rural hospital with an outpatient oncology center. The brand new $15 million oncology center is staffed with hematologists and oncologists from S.U.N.Y. Upstate. This collaboration between Auburn Community Hospital and S.U.N.Y. Upstate allows local residents to obtain cutting edge oncology care close to home. The new cancer center also has radiation oncology services added to current cancer treatment options. Auburn Community Hospital is seeking a Chemo/Clinical Pharmacist to support our pharmacy and new cancer center. This position will work alongside a small team under the direction of the Director of Pharmacy.

What You’ll Be Doing as the Clinical/Oncology Pharmacist:

• Split part of your time with general clinical functions to advance the hospital and pharmacy department capabilities (examples discharge medication reconciliation, Meds to beds or any of a number of interest or programs). The other part of your time will be functioning as a member of the oncology team.
• Serve as a resource to patients, physicians, pharmacist, nurses and other members of the health team serving the oncology patient population.
• Reviewing/checking chemotherapy regimens placed by providers.
• Inputting orders into the pharmacy information system.
• Oversee the mixing of chemotherapy and immunologic therapies by certified chemotherapy technicians. Must be able to mix when tech is not available.
• Management, development, review and maintenance of clinical policies, workflows, job aids, drug pricing and costs with analysis.
• Maintaining drug regimen inventory.
• Monitoring FDA approvals and alerts.

Requirements:

• NYS Pharmacy License required
• Chemo experience preferred
• Clinical experience preferred
• Residency experience preferred
• Board certification preferred
