Job Description:

The Medical Director of Family Medicine provides medical direction of clinical medical services. The position of Medical Director of Family Medicine fosters physician leadership of key aspects of the program ensuring:

  • Management services complement clinical requirements.
  • Clinical practice standards are consistent, appropriate and reasonable, recognizing the constraints and/or limitations of specific programs.
  • Medical services are focused on achieving appropriate clinical, financial and service goals.

 

The responsibilities of this position include, but may not be limited to:

  • Administrative Duties (50%) & Clinical Practice (50%).
  • Provide direct patient care for 50% of working hours (the level of clinical work will be evaluated every 6 months as the clinic continues to grow and evolve).
  • Deliver comprehensive medical services to patients based on the area of specialty (internal medicine, family medicine Med/Peds
  • Oversee the implementation of clinical practice policies and procedures in the daily operations of the Family Medicine services.
  • Develop and implement strategies to improve operational challenges in Family Medicine services.
  • Collaborates in developing and implementing strategic goals and operation objectives for the services, which include issues such as physician/provider productivity standards, medical educational requirements, consult and referral policies, etc.
  • Monitor physician/provider/service compliance with the service specialty goals and objectives, and correct any variances. Report any issues of non-compliance to Administration.
  • Function as liaison between Hospital Administration and the physicians/advanced practice providers to build consensus on critical issues, and to identify and resolve clinical practice issues.
  • Contribute to the appraisal of clinical leadership performance.
  • Coordinate the development of multidisciplinary clinical programs and ambulatory care clinical protocols.
  • Collaborate to streamline the care delivery process and foster a high degree of patient satisfaction. Develops and implements a system to monitor patient satisfaction and resolve all patient complaints in a timely manner.
  • Develop a program to orient all new physicians, advance practice providers and other providers to the policies/procedures and culture of the Family Medicine practices.
  • Monitor and participate in ongoing implementation and physician/advanced practice provider compliance with the Family Medicine program.
  • Monitor physician and advanced practice provider compliance with medical record completion policies.
  • Collaborate with the physicians and advanced practice providers on the development and implementation of clinical pathways and care maps.
  • Collaborate to ensure that daily operations are patient focused, efficient, cost effective and comply with the policies and procedures of the Hospital.
  • Participate in educational research activities:
  • Participate in departmental rounds and in continuing medical educational programs.
  • Participate on committees as appropriate.
  • Functions as the liaison between Family Medicine program and referring physicians on issues related to patient care and clinical management.
  • Develop a program in collaboration with the Medical Staff Office, to monitor and track the credentialing of physicians and advanced practice providers.

 

Qualifications:

  • Board Certification in Family Medicine through the American Board of Family Medicine or the American Osteopathic Board of Family Physicians
  • NYS Licensure and DEA
  • Specialty Expertise in Family Medicine and five years of documented educational and/ or administrative experience preferred
  • Previous leadership experience in a clinical setting
  • Strong interest in integrated care models and experience working collaboratively with behavioral health providers
  • Demonstrated ability to lead change, drive innovation, and promote a culture of continuous improvement
  • Commitment to delivering compassionate, patient-centered care, and advocating for the needs of underserved populations

 

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $285,000.00 – $325,000.00 per year
