Job Overview
Develops, plans, implements, and evaluates educational programs upon hire and continuing through employment to nursing staff to ensure quality, safe patient care is delivered.
Responsibilities
- Conduct new employee orientation and ongoing education to new and current staff
- Collaborate with nursing leadership, preceptors, and other team members to ensure orientation expectations are met
- Provide annual competency evaluations based on hospital policy, and regulatory standards (i.e. DOH, TJC)
- Develop and deliver unit-specific education offerings
- Develop competencies and skill assessments to evaluate educational programs and the integration of knowledge into daily practice
- Remain current on nursing standards based on evidence-based practice guidelines
- Round on nursing units to provide support to clinical staff
- Develop, implement, and evaluate educational plans annually
- Develop, review, and revise hospital policy and procedures utilizing evidence-based practice standards
- Participate in implementation of quality and safety initiatives
- Utilize learning management system for educational purposes as well as compiling and maintaining learning records
- Compile and maintain learning records and provide to Human Resources employee files
- Participate in Nurse Residency Program planning, seminars, and evaluations
- Perform other duties as assigned
Qualifications
- Must possess a valid New York State Registered Professional Nurse license
- Minimum three to five years acute care nursing experience
- MSN degree required
- Previous educator experience highly desirable
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills

Schedule: Exempt; Full-Time (37.5 hours) – occasional weekend based on needs
Monday – Friday 7am-3pm or 8am-4pm, and other shifts as required to meet department needs, including occasional weekend, as needed
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $95,000.00 – $105,000.00 per year
