Nursing Supervisor

Auburn Community Hospital (ACH) is a not-for-profit, 99-bed acute care facility located in Auburn, New York. As the sole provider of acute and general hospital services in Cayuga County and the surrounding areas, we serve a population of approximately 80,000 throughout the Finger Lakes region. More than 95% of the physicians on staff are board certified in at least one specialty.

Overview:

We are seeking a dedicated Nursing Supervisor to join our team. The ideal candidate will have experience in a hospital setting and will be responsible and accountable for the functioning of the Nursing Department on an assigned tour of duty. Also accountable for nursing staff support, encouragement, advice and help in decision making as needed for in-patient care situations.

Duties (including, but not limited to):

– Oversee nursing staff and ensure high-quality patient care

– Make detailed rounds of all units and inquire about specific patients mentioned in change of shift report.

– Receive written and verbal report of patient unit activity from unit Charge Nurse at end of shift.

– Act as clinical resource to ensure sound clinical judgment by staff. Ensure the taking of appropriate nursing actions, and clear communication with physician staff.

– Ensure compliance with healthcare regulations and protocols. Participate in nursing service policy and procedure function; interpret and ensure proper implementation of policies and procedures in accordance with hospital standards.

– Maintain awareness of staffing on patient units. Ensure proper deployment of staff. Shall have final decision on staff assignment and course of clinical action. Ensures that amount of staff on each unit is adjusted based on need.

– Maintain credentialing and ability to function at a Staff Nurse level at Auburn Community Hospital.

Requirements:

– Bachelor of Science in Nursing preferred

– Valid nursing license and BLS, ACLS and PALS certifications required or obtained

– Proven experience in a supervisory role within a healthcare setting

– Strong interpersonal and communication skills for interacting with patients, families, and staff
