The Perioperative Support Tech is responsible for regularly scheduled duties in the care and treatment of patients.
JOB FUNCTIONS:
- Able to read tracking board and understands when to bring patient to the holding area.
- Observes and reports any significant physical conditions or abnormal observations.
- Trained to perform pre-cleaning and disinfection of scopes for endoscopy.
- Checks with the Day Surgery Nurse to see if patient is ready and communicates with the charge nurse regarding reasons for any delays.
- Assists in maintaining accurate inventory of supplies and materials.
- Understands the sterile field and the correct way to move around the OR Room.
- Cleans surgical suite: all horizontal surfaces, emptying trash, mopping floor, etc.
- Able to perform computer tasks such as printing patient stickers, Pathology sheets, name bracelets, etc.
- Knows call procedure: arrive no more than 30 minutes after being called in, set up designated room, greet and bring patient back when nurse is ready.
- Performs all other job duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Patient care assistant/acute care experience preferred.
- Must live or have the ability to arrive to hospital within 30 minutes during scheduled on-call times; On-call required.
- Medical terminology knowledge and knowledge of nomenclature of items and equipment used by department preferred.
- Excellent communications skills required.
- Employee will work closely with patients, staff & surgeons.

Pay: $19.66 – $22.38 per hour
