Job Description:

Broad Function:

Under the general direction of the Director of Nursing or Director in charge, perform the duties of Respiratory Therapist Department Manager. Coordinate and direct activities of the department which includes education. Perform patient care as necessary. Perform other duties necessary to maintain the daily operation of the Respiratory Care Department.

 

Sign-On Bonus: $5,000 (full-time employment)

 

Major Responsibilities:

  • Coordinate department functions, up to and including: instruct, train / orient department staff members, ongoing education. Prepare work schedules, including assignments of breaks and lunches as necessary. Monitor work load of the department and make assignment modifications as necessary to assure adequate coverage.
  • Provide clinical input to the annual evaluation of employee work performance with the Director of Nursing or Director in charge.
  • Ensure labor standards are met, according to organizational established standards and practices in cases where the union therapists are not able to provide coverage or there is potential for patient harm due to the unavailability of a union therapist.
  • Responsible to ensure safety practices are followed. Follow organizational practices and reporting all potential and actual safety incidents in the internal reporting system (RL6). Follow-up and develop process to mitigate potential and actual safety incidents.
  • Coordinates departmental functions follow standards of care to ensure quality and outcome goals are met.
  • Coordinate out-patient appointments with central registration and staffing requirements for these appointments.
  • Ensure equipment for department are maintained and follow Instructions for Use (IFU). Coordinate with Bio Med to ensure equipment meets standards for use and all equipment is in cleaned and in good repair.
  • Works with other departments to ensure departmental needs are met for clinical care of patients.
  • Participate in the review/update & establishment of department policies and procedures as related to clinical issues. Communicate new changes of policy or procedure to other members of the department.
  • Maintain current knowledge and skills in respiratory care and keep abreast of advances in treatment and technology.
  • Ensures department meets/exceeds regulatory compliance.
  • Perform other duties as may be assigned.

 

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor degree required. Licensed to practice in NYS.
  • Must possess six (6) years experience in an acute care setting in a Respiratory Therapy Department.
  • Must have five (5) years of leadership experience.

 

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $110,000.00 – $125,000.00 per year
