Summary

As a Registered Nurse at Auburn Memorial Medical Services, you will be an integral part of our healthcare team, providing high-quality patient care in a dynamic environment. This role is essential in supporting our mission to deliver exceptional healthcare services to our community.

  • This position is eligible for a Sign-On & Retention Bonus in the amount of $2,500.

 

Responsibilities

  • Consistently rooms patients in a timely fashion to enhance the efficiency of the provider’s schedule. Assist patients in dressing and undressing as needed
  • With each patient roomed; compiles nurses note, obtains accurate vital signs, verifies all current medications and accurately documents results in the computer.
  • Assist physicians in examination of patients and performance of procedures and tests. Demonstrates the ability to perform; EKG’s, pulse oximetry, spirometry, hearing and vision exams, tympanogram and cerumen removal.
  • Daily manages nursing triage calls. Obtains information from the patient, relays response back to the patient in a timely professional manner. Confers with the physician if necessary. Completes all triage by day’s end and documents accurately in the computer.
  • Daily processes all patient prescription requests. Verifies medication, dose, route of administration, frequency, appointment compliance and physician approval prior to processing. Completes all requests by day’s end.
  • Demonstrates ability to perform phlebotomy, glucose testing, urine processing, occult and culture specimen collection.
  • Demonstrates ability to accurately comply with all practice vaccine management and administration policies. Maintains currency on all vaccine guidelines, understands the importance of proper storage, handling and administration of all vaccines. Demonstrates the ability to determine NYS VFC eligibility based on patient insurance coverage and documents appropriately in the computer.
  • Demonstrates ability to scan in outside records from previous physicians, emergency/hospital visits, consults/labs, immunization records, etc. Ensures complete chart prior to patient being seen.
  • Educate patients about medical condition, immunization schedules, daily care, medication, etc.; answer questions as medically appropriate.
  • Documents all billable nursing services on the electronic super bill at the end of each visit. Ensures proper coding and inclusion of all activities.
  • Maintain sanitary and orderly conditions in the clinical areas at all times; clean up exam rooms immediately after each visit and set up and stock rooms as needed. Maintain equipment and instruments within the room.
  • Assist with the ordering of medical supplies, pharmaceuticals as needed. Complies with all VFC program guidelines.
  • Demonstrates ability to wrap instruments for sterilization; change sterilization solution and insure proper calibration and functionality of the sterilization equipment.
  • As required by CLIA and other regulations, maintain a log of lab specimens processed on-site or sent to outside labs for testing, and perform regularly scheduled controls.
  • Demonstrates efficient/productive use of work time. Arrives for work as scheduled and focuses on job duties as listed above. Punches in/out daily and for lunch as required in a timely fashion.
  • Demonstrates team effort. When individual work is complete, looks for ways to help others.ie reviews triages, helps with rooming, scanning etc.
  • Participates in educational and administrative staff training regarding infection controls procedures, HIPPA and other as determined by administration.
  • Other duties as dictated by the needs of the practice and physicians by specialty.
  • Maintains and monitors provider’s schedules including surgery schedules.
  • Obtains authorizations as needed for procedures, medications and services.
  • Corresponds with pharmacies as necessary for medication refill requests and patient’s needs.
  • Prepares and/or administers injectable medications as directed by the physician.
  • Reception duties as required based on the needs of the practice.
  • Gives patients testing requisitions, as directed by the physicians, schedules patients for ancillary tests, and outside physicians’ appointments (referrals). Documents and processes appropriate follow-up in the EMR.
  • Prepares and maintains provider’s surgery schedule. Obtains authorization as needed.
  • Dispense sample medications to patients as directed by the provider.
  • Manages Coordination of care for patients as needed.
  • Demonstrate the ability to complete tasks as directed by provider within the scope of the RN license and NYS law.

 

Qualifications

  • Current Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state of New York.
  • Experience in acute care settings preferred.
  • Strong understanding of HIPAA regulations and patient confidentiality practices.
  • Ability to perform sterile processing techniques as needed.
  • Familiarity with neonatal ventilators is a plus but not required.
  • Excellent communication skills for effective collaboration with patients and healthcare teams.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
