John C Avanzato, MD
Dr. Avanzato was born in the Bronx, New York. He is proficient in diagnostic and therapeutic colonoscopy and upper endoscopy as well as consultative gastroenterology and hepatology. His wife Cheryl is a practicing radiologist at Newark Wayne Hospital in Newark, NY. They have three boys. Dr. Avanzato has many and varied interests and hobbies, but his lifelong passion has been to write novels. He has published four to date: Hostile Hospital, Prescription for Disaster, Temperature Rising and Claim Denied, best categorized as medical thrillers.

Henry M. Klotz, MD
Dr. Klotz has been a life-long resident of New York and has spent most of his career in the Metropolitan NYC area. He has over 30 years of experience as a board certified Gastroenterologist. Prior to joining Auburn Memorial Medical Services and establishing the Auburn Gastroenterology practice, Dr. Klotz had a private practice in Long Island and was a physician in the Queens Long Island Medical Group. Dr. Klotz performs screening and diagnostic endoscopies and colonoscopies and specializes in the diagnosis and treatment of diseases and complications of the gastrointestinal (digestive) tract, treating conditions such as irritable bowel syndrome, acid reflux (heartburn), hepatitis, and liver disease. Dr. Klotz also enjoys lecturing and educating the public on digestive health issues.

Whitney Kukol, MD
Dr. Kukol graduated from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute with a Bachelor’s degree in biology/psychology and a Master’s degree in biology. She worked as a certified pharmacy technician in the Albany area for two years following graduation while she applied to medical school. She graduated from SUNY Upstate Medical University in May of 2017, and was employed as a resident physician in internal medicine at Strong Memorial Hospital – University of Rochester in Rochester, NY for 6 years. She joined Auburn Gastroenterology in 2023 and is excited to be a part of the team.
