Minna Hancock, DO
Dr. Hancock completed a 4 year general neurology residency and one year fellowship in Neurophysiology at Henry Ford Hospital in Detroit, MI. Her emphasis during fellowship was EMGs/NCS and treating neuromuscular diseases (muscular dystrophy, neuropathy, cervical and lumbar radiculopathies, Carpal Tunnel Syndrome) as well as Epilepsy/seizures/EEG interpretation.
She is board certified in Neurology through the AOBNP, and holds professional memberships in the American Academy of Neurology and American Association of Neuromuscular and Electrodiagnostic Medicine.
In her current practice of General Neurology, she cares for patients with Chronic Migraine, movement disorders such as Parkinson’s disease, tremor, Cervical Dystonia, as well as Multiple Sclerosis and seizures/Epilepsy, and several other conditions. Auburn Hospital is a stroke center of excellence, receiving the Gold Plus Certification for giving TPA (an effective clot busting medication) within 90 minutes of arrival to the ER. She acutely manages stroke patients in the hospital as well as after they are discharged. Headache is the most common patient concern at any neurology office, and also the most rewarding to treat, as many patients gain back their quality of life.
She is trained in providing Botox for Chronic Migraine, a safe and effective treatment with few drug interactions which is also safe for pregnant patients. In addition, she uses Botox treatment for disorders such as cervical dystonia, blepharospasm, and post-stroke spasticity. She performs EMG/NCS which are vital in the diagnosis of conditions such as Carpal Tunnel Syndrome, cervical and lumbar radiculopathies, peripheral neuropathies, myopathies, Myasthenia Gravis, and ALS.
As an osteopathic physician, she also provides OMT (Osteopathic Manipulative Therapy), as appropriate for her patients. She values the importance of prevention of neurological conditions through lifestyle modification, empowering patients, and providing empathy and compassionate care as she advocates for her patients.
She is a published author for her undergraduate thesis work: Resveratrol can only partially attenuate ethanol-induced oxidative stress in embryonic chick brains, Minna L. Hancock and Robert R. Miller (2006); Nutritional Neuroscience, 9:3-4, 121-129.
